MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for July 18th on FanDuel
- OF – Gregory Polanco
Polanco and the Pirates get a nice park shift in Miller Park tonight. Polanco will be LvsR against the inconsistent Jimmy Nelson. Polanco has speed and power from the top spot in the order and Nelson is a big righty which makes stealing easier if Polanco can get on base. The Pirates are projected at 4.1 runs on the road.
- C – Yan Gomes
Gomes and the Indians are projected to score 4.2 runs on the road in Cincy. The Great American Smallpark is hitter friendly and Gomes is slotted into the 5th spot in the order. He will be RvsR but opposing pitcher, DeSclafani has been getting hit more by righties this year, is worse at home and is generally a guy we like to target bats against.
- OF – Justin Upton
Upton and the rest of the SD big bats broke out with homers yesterday finally. He will be RvsR tonight but has actually been hitting righties better this year. Any time you have a team against a Colorado pitcher you have to at least take a look. The Padres are currently projected just under 4 runs at home and Upton has a wonderful blend of speed and power from the clean up spot.
- OF – Angel Pagan
Pagan has been a very solid lead off hitter for the Giants this season. He’s hitting over .300 in July and always has a favorable handedness match up. Pagan’s upside may be a bit limited but he is a pretty safe play and enjoys a nice boost in Chase Field, Arizona tonight where the Giants are projected to score 4.1 runs.
- 3B – Kris Bryant
Bryant and the Cubs are projected to score 4.2 runs on the road in Atlanta. Bryant has cooled off a little of late but gets a young lefty pitcher tonight who is on a strict pitch count. The Braves have the third worst bullpen ERA in the bigs and if the Cubs jump on Banuelos early it could be a long night for them. Bryant will be RvsL from the second spot in the order.
- 1B – Carlos Santana
Santana is having a nice month of July as he has raised his average and had a number of multi hit games. He’s shown much more power from the left side of the plate this year and he gets a plus match up against Anthony DeSclafani. The Indians are projected to score 4.2 runs and Santana will be hitting clean up.
- C – Victor Martinez
Martinez is picking up the slack for the injured Miguel Cabrera in Detroit. He’s homered in 3 of the last 4 games and driven in 5 runs. He’s facing the inconsistent Chris Tillman. Detroit are big favorites with a 4.4 run projection at home.
- OF – Yoenis Cespedes
Batting in front of Martinez is Cespedes. He has a plus match up against Tillman as well even though it will be RvsR. Cespedes has been killing right handed pitching this year and he has also moved into the second spot of the order.

- OF – Ender Inciarte
Inciarte is recently back from the DL and will lead off the Diamondbacks order against Jake Peavy. He doesn’t have much power but was consistently getting on base before his hamstring issue. With the Dbacks projected at 4.4 runs, Inciarte should be involved in the potentially very high offensive output in Chase Field tonight.View all posts by Donnie Chell
