MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for July 18th on DraftKings
- OF – Ichiro Suzuki
Ichiro takes over the top spot in the order tonight for the Marlins. Facing the struggling Billingsley should be an easy match up for the once prolific hitter. Ichiro will be LvsR and while he’s slowed down at 41 he can still leg out an infield hit or swipe a bag if necessary. He’s got little to no power upside but makes for a fairly ideal punt if you need one.
- OF – Preston Tucker
Tucker will be batting second for the Astros who have a 4.6 run projection at home against Colby Lewis. Lewis is another guy that gets targeted often and gives up a lot of home runs. The Astros bats are due and Tucker will be one of many LvsR match ups tonight.
- 2B/3B – Jedd Gyorko
Gyorko finally hit another home run last night. He’s another one of those boom or bust Padres bats but is very cheap and has some flexibility of position. He definitely likes hitting against Colorado pitching, but then again, who doesn’?
- C – Yan Gomes
Gomes and the Indians are projected to score 4.2 runs on the road in Cincy. The Great American Smallpark is hitter friendly and Gomes is slotted into the 5th spot in the order. He will be RvsR but opposing pitcher, DeSclafani has been getting hit more by righties this year, is worse at home and is generally a guy we like to target bats against.
- OF – Christian Yelich
Yelich has maybe, potentially, possibly found his swing. He’s been hitting the ball hard recently and gets a great match up tonight against Chad Billingsley. Yellich will be LvsR and the Marlins, despite their struggles are favorites on the road with a just under 4 run projection.
- 1B – Victor Martinez
Martinez is picking up the slack for the injured Miguel Cabrera in Detroit. He’s homered in 3 of the last 4 games and driven in 5 runs. He’s facing the inconsistent Chris Tillman. Detroit are big favorites with a 4.4 run projection at home.
- OF – Matt Holliday
Holliday made his triumphant return from the DL by going 0-3 against “Thor”. Still, this is a guy who still has tons of pop and hits for average. He will be facing Bartolo Colon and has slid back into the third spot in the Cardinals order. The Cards are projected to score 3.9 runs tonight at home.
- 1B/3B – Carlos Santana
Santana is having a nice month of July as he has raised his average and had a number of multi hit games. He’s shown much more power from the left side of the plate this year and he gets a plus match up against Anthony DeSclafani. The Indians are projected to score 4.2 runs and Santana will be hitting clean up.
Under the Radar Player
- SS – Jean Segura
Segura gets a big lineup spot upgrade tonight. He’s got a tough match up against Liriano but has hit lefties better this season and is at home in Miller Park. Most of his upside comes from the spot in the order and Liriano is one of those guys who can go from effectively wild to wild just like that.View all posts by Donnie Chell
