MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for September 2nd on FanDuel
- SS – Alcides Escobar
Escobar and the Royals have a 4.7 run projection at home against the elderly Randy Wolf. Wolf has actually been solid in his only two starts of the year but KC has a habit of making even the best pitcher look bad. Wolf has struggled against righties over the last few years of his career and Escobar is min priced in the lead off spot with a RvsL match up. Detroit’s Alex Avila has been one of the worst defensive catcher in the league and Wolf has only been decent at holding runners.
- 1B – Pedro Alvarez
Alvarez and the Pirates get a park boost in Milwaukee tonight. He will be LvsR and has plenty of power regardless of ball park. Pittsburgh has a 4.9 run projection against a rookie making his first career start. Alvarez is only 2.6K and has 22 home runs on the year.
- C – Salvador Perez
Perez doesn’t have a great line up spot but will be RvsL against Randy Wolf. The Royals have a nice run projection and Perez has been crushing lefties this year. He’s coming off a good month of August and has a lot of power for only 2.3K.
- C – John Jaso
Jaso is a min priced clean up hitter playing in hitter friendly Camden Yards. A great park for lefties, Jaso will be LvsR against Gausman who has been pretty good but home run prone this year.
- OF – David Peralta
Peralta will be hitting clean up in Coors Field against right handed Jon Gray. Gray showed a lot of promise in his first starts but was shelled by the Mets and only lasted 4.1 innings against the Pirates. Gray is a young guy which makes him unpredictable and the Diamondbacks have a lot of guys capable of taking advantage of mistakes. Peralta has been great against righties and seems to play well in Coors Field. Arizona has a 5.5 run projection tonight.
- OF – Carlos Gonzalez
CarGo gets a LvsR match up with a 5.5 run projection at home. He’s expensive and has been streaky this year but with 28 of his 31 home runs on the season against righties you’d be hard pressed to find a reason to sit him tonight in Coors Field.
- OF – Lorenzo Cain
Cain joins Perez and Escobar on this list as RvsL against Randy Wolf with a 4.7 run projection. He’s also got the speed to take advantage of Alex Avila.
- 1B – Jose Abreu
Abreu is a powerful guy against a mediocre lefty tonight. Abreu has posted reverse splits but Tommy Milone has been owned by righties. Abreu is actually quite affordable and the White Sox are projected just south of 4 runs tonight.
Under the Radar Player
- 2B – Brian Dozier
Staying in Minnesota, Dozier is the under the radar play of the night. On a night where Kershaw will be eating a lot of salary for most, Dozier may seem a bit expensive at a position that is almost completely devoid of value tonight. I expect a lot of people to punt second base in an attempt to get a little Coors exposure in addition to paying up for pitching tonight. Dozier is only 3.2K on FD (5K on DK) and is RvsL against Rodon who is a young guy with potential to get lit up at times.View all posts by Donnie Chell
