MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for July 31st on FanDuel
- OF – Steven Souza
Souza and the Rays are projected to score 4.1 runs on the road in Boston. He will have a RvsL match up against the young and inconsistent Eduardo Rodriguez. E-Rod is coming off a good game but has been plagued by home runs recently and Souza’s bat has some pop in it if he can make contact.
- OF – Angel Pagan
Pagan doesn’t have a ton of power upside but he’s been a consistent hitter near the top of the Giants order. San Fran is projected to score 4.8 runs with a park bump in Texas and Pagan benefit by facing a pitcher in Nick Martinez who has been absolutely rocked in every start since the end of June.
- SS – Jhonny Peralta
Peralta’s price is ridiculously low considering his great season. Tonight the Cardinals face one of the worst pitchers in baseball, Colorado’s Kyle Kendrick, and are projected to score 4.6 runs which makes Peralta’s $2.6K salary even more head-scratching. Peralta has been on a bit of a slump but it is hard to imagine that continuing with 3 games against the Rockies’ abysmal rotation.
- OF – Nori Aoki
Aoki only has one hit since returning from a broken leg which justifies his minimal price. He gets a great match up LvsR with a 4.8 run projection against the Rangers’ struggling Nick Martinez.
- 1B – Freddie Freeman
Freeman has not regained his pre-injury form, that is clear. Tonight he will be LvsR against David Buchanan who sports a 1.78 WHIP this season and has been hit hard by nearly every team he has faced. The Braves’ offense is pretty horrible but Freeman has a fantastic match up and his price has stayed quite low in the mid-tier for a batter with huge upside if he gets it going.
- 1B – Chris Davis
Davis keeps popping up on this list with a string of excellent match ups. He has 4 home runs in the last 7 games and 14 RBI in that span. Tonight he will be LvsR against Buck Farmer who has appearances in the big leagues this year for a 1.9 WHIP and 4 home runs surrendered in only 13.2 innings. The game is in Camden Yards and the Orioles are projected to score 5.2 runs.
- 3B – Manny Machado
Machado has the same benefit as Davis facing an inexperienced pitcher at home in a hitter friendly park. The Orioles will be some of the highest owned players tonight and Machado will be a core part of their potentially high offensive outburst.
- 1B – Eric Hosmer
Hosmer gets a LvsR match up against Drew Hutchison who has been the beneficiary of the Blue Jays top ranked offense. Hutchison’s good starts have been scarce this year despite posting a 9-2 record. Hosmer has been tearing the cover off the ball and hit nearly .400 over 100 at bats in July.

- 1B – Justin Bour
Bour continues to bat clean up for the Marlins as they stack lefties against the Padres’ Despaigne. Bour has been boom or bust and won’t be owned much today. Despaigne has been boom or bust too as a pitcher and if his bust corresponds with a Bour boom there’s a lot of points to be had on the cheap.View all posts by Donnie Chell
