MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for July 24th on FanDuel
- 1B – Yonder Alonso
Alonso is a min priced option at first base tonight facing a mediocre pitcher. He has a LvsR match up and smoked a big home run last night. He has been near the top of the line up recently and could provide some contrarian tournament value since most people will be turning to Votto in Coors.
- OF – Marlon Byrd
Speaking of Coors, Marlon Byrd is incredibly cheap considering his RvsL match up in the best hitters park in baseball. The FanDuel algorithm seems to dislike the aging slugger as he is $1,300 more expensive on DraftKings. Byrd has been somewhat of a revelation for those who have rostered him over the last couple months with 14 home runs and a .300+ batting average. He’s been much better against lefties and facing Chris Rusin the Reds have a 5.4 run projection.
- 3B – Miguel Sano
Sano has been a big hit since joining the Twins this season. He has been mashing the ball at home. Tonight he will be RvsL against C.C. Sabathia who has been crushed by right handed hitting this year. The Twins are projected to score 4.2 runs at home against the aging lefty.
- 2B – Brandon Phillips
Phillips seems to have been missed by the FanDuel algorithm as well coming in at $1,200 cheaper than on DraftKings. He will lead off in a RvsL match up in Coors Field in a game where the Reds are favorites on the road. Opposing pitcher, Chris Rusin is not good against righties and Phillips will probably massively owned both in cash and GPPs tonight.
- 1B – Joey Votto
Votto is hitting an absurd 16-27 over his last seven games and even facing a lefty tonight is about as chalk a play at first base as you can get. He’s locked in and has never been that bad against left handed pitching. You might not be able to count on him for a dinger but he will be involved in what should be a big offensive game for the Reds in Coors.
- OF – Jay Bruce
Bruce was pretty much M.I.A. from the scoring last night but gets another shot at the thin air in Colorado. WIth a 5.4 run projection and improved hitting vs lefties this year — he’s actually developed reverse splits over a smallish sample — there’s no real reason to neglect the power bat hitting clean up for the Reds.
- 3B – Todd Frazier
Frazier had a quieter than expected game last night and .hasn’t been quite himself since the All-Star break. However, he gets a prime match up in Coors tonight against a bad lefty. He may actually be under owned despite his monster game potential with Donaldson, Sano and A-Rod all priced much lower with great match ups.
- OF – Carlos Gonzalez
We may have to implement a rule about CarGo. Play him at Coors, stay away on the road. Tonight is another game at Coors and even facing Johnny Cueto the Rockies are projected at 5.1 runs. Gonzalez appears locked in again and Cueto is coming off a couple of very mediocre games.
Under the Radar Player
- 3B – Alex Rodriguez
With so many great options are third base tonight I see ARod going very under the radar. He’s older and has developed somewhat of a reverse split this year. However, at $3,500 facing a lefty with blow up potential makes his upside amazing.View all posts by Donnie Chell
