MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 5th on FanDuel
- OF – Brandon Moss
Moss is min priced and has plenty of pop. He’s actually been better LvsL this year and faces a weak lefty in a hitters ball park. The Cardinals are projected to score 4.1 runs on the road.
- C – Yadier Molina
Molina has been an incredibly consistent if low ceiling play. At min price tonight with a 4.1 run projection and a RvsL match up, Molina has very solid value on a night with a number of pretty expensive pitchers
- SS – Alcides Escobar
Escobar is a min priced lead off hitter facing a pitcher who didn’t record an out in his previous start in the majors. KC are known for beating up on great pitchers and Boyd has been quite shaky in his only starts in the majors. It will be RvsL and the Royals have a 4.2 run projection on the road in Detroit.
- OF – Stephen Piscotty
Piscotty has been hitting well over the last week and he gets a good match up against a weak lefty in a hitters ball park. The power upside isn’t there but the price is good and the 4.1 run projection is solid.
- OF – Jacoby Ellsbury
Ellsbury has started to do more of late and has a great match up against a weak righty and the rest of the Red Sox’s poor bullpen. The Yankees are at home in a lefty friendly park and New York is projected to score 5.3 runs.
- OF – Carlos Gomez
Gomez has a great match up against Nick Martinez in Arlington. The Astros are projected to score 5.3 runs and Gomez’s power and speed match up give him plenty of upside for a pretty reasonable price. The splits work out for Gomez as well.
- 2B – Jose Altuve
Altuve has the same great match up as Gomez. 5.3 run projection on the road in a hitter friendly park, in the lead off spot and Altuve is 4-10 against Martinez in his career with 3 doubles.
- 1B – Paul Goldschmidt
Goldschmidt is super cheap today facing Gio Gonzalez in Washington. He’s coming off a rough stretch of games but this is Goldy versus a lefty we are talking about right now. He’s only $4K and has gone 4-6 against Gio so far.
Under the Radar Player
- OF – Joc Pederson
Pederson’s fall has been as steep as his meteoric rise. He’s dropped in the order and his price is minimal considering his 21 home runs this season. He took 3 walks last night which is a big change for Pederson and the match up is excellent with LvsR facing Aaron Harang. He may be more on the radar than usual tonight but with his absolutely awful last month and a half many will be hesitant to roster him.View all posts by Donnie Chell
