MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 4th on FanDuel
- C – Jesus Montero
Montero hasn’t played a ton this year but is on solid string of games with some increased playing time recently. He is nearly minimum price and faces a pitcher making his first career start in Coors Field. He provides a valuable cheap bat in Colorado to help roster some of the expensive pitching available today.
- SS – Jose Reyes
Reyes hasn’t done a ton since coming over to the Rockies but he provides some relatively cheap exposure to the Coors Field game. Yes, Reyes has been worse as a right handed batter but the Mariners are essentially running a bullpen out there today and his price is 1.5K less on FanDuel than DK. He still has SB upside and with the Rockies projected to score 5.5 runs you need some exposure in Colorado.
- OF – Coco Crisp
Crisp went 2-4 after a two and a half month layoff and gets a fairly easy match up against the back end of the Baltimore rotation. Crisp has been better from the left side, where he will start today, and is min priced batting second for the As.
- 2B – Scooter Gennett
Gennett showed off some pop last night and continues to lead off for the Brewers at home tonight. Milwaukee is projected to score 3.9 runs against Andrew Cashner who is coming off a start where he was blown up by the Mets. Gennett will be LvsR.
- OF – Carlos Gonzalez
CarGo fell off a bit as expected by leaving Coors Field but returns to face what amounts to the Seattle Mariners bullpen. With a 5.5 run projection and a recent streak of home runs CarGo should be a pretty chalk play tonight.
- 3B – Kyle Seager
Kyle Seager went off as expected last night and the match up is relatively similar today. He faces an unknown commodity in Jon Gray but will be LvsR and his Mariners have a 5.5 run projection on the road.
- 2B – Robinson Cano
Cano has a pretty solid game last night, like most of Seattle and his resurgence in the last month has been massive. Like Seager, he has a LvsR match up and a big 5.5 run projection.
- 1B – Prince Fielder
Fielder continues to maul right handed pitching and tonight he and the Ranger are projected to score 4.9 runs against the newly recalled Dan Straily. Straily hasn’t had a ton of success recently in the big leagues and in the hitter friendly park in Arlington there’s a good chance the Rangers lefties continue his problems.
Under the Radar Player
- 3B – Kris Bryant
Bryant has had a rough stretch of games recently but the guy still has insane talent. This get better for the Cubs third basemen facing J.A. Happ who is making his first start for the Pirates. Happ has been generally bad this year and even the struggling Cubs should have a good chance to take advantage of him.View all posts by Donnie Chell
