MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 4th on DraftKings
- SS – Ketel Marte
Marte remains min priced in Coors Field. If he continues to lead off his upside is immense in a game where the Mariners are projected to score 5.5 runs. Marte hasn’t done a ton since being called up but it is a good sign that he has only struck out twice in 16 career at bats thus far.
- OF – Shane Peterson
Peterson is a young guy who has played pretty well in limited opportunities this year. With the Brewers trading off a bunch off their top roster guys this is Peterson’s chance to step up. He’s min priced and while his line up spot isn’t stellar he has a LvsR match up in hitter friendly Milwaukee with a 3.9 run projection.
- OF – Chris Denorfia
Denorfia has done pretty well for himself on the Cubs this year. The veteran gets a RvsL match up against the generally bad J.A. Happ and has hit lefties a bit better in his career. He is only $2.1K and batting second for Chicago.
- OF – Andre Ethier
Ethier is supremely valuable tonight batting clean up against No-Home Jerome Williams. The Dodgers are projected to score 4.7 runs on the road and Ethier will probably be massively owned tonight.
- 3B – Kyle Seager
Kyle Seager went off as expected last night and the match up is relatively similar today. He faces an unknown commodity in Jon Gray but will be LvsR and his Mariners have a 5.5 run projection on the road.
- SS – Troy Tulowitzki
Tulo and the Blue Jays are projected to score 4.8 runs against the Twins and Phil Hughes at home. The Jays continue to lead off Tulowitzki and facing a home run prone pitcher in Rodgers Center bodes well for the chances of a big game for the best short stop in the MLB. He’s actually relatively affordable tonight with a RvsR match up, which hasn’t mattered much over Tulo’s career.
- 1B -Edwin Encarnacion
Encarnacion has been significantly raising his batting average recently and has a great match up against Phil Hughes. E5 has hit .350 against Hughes in 40 career at bats.
- 2B – Robinson Cano
Cano has a pretty solid game last night, like most of Seattle and his resurgence in the last month has been massive. Like Seager, he has a LvsR match up and a big 5.5 run projection.
Under the Radar Player
- C – Yasmani Grandal
Grandal is having a monster year in Los Angeles. It’s hard to really call him under the radar but he had a fairly quiet June and started turning it on again in July. With the best match up on the slate today and most of his numbers coming against right handed pitching, Grandal is primed for a big game with a reasonable $3.5K price tag.View all posts by Donnie Chell
