MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 26th on FanDuel
- OF – Yasiel Puig
Puig is just way too cheap at 2.7K batting near the top of the order, especially against a poor performing lefty. With a 4.5 run projection in a hitters ball park there’s a good chance that Cincy’s David Holmberg continues his trend of getting lit up.
- C – Victor Martinez
Martinez and the Tigers are projected to score 4.8 runs at home against the Angels tonight. Martinez has been better as a right handed batter over the last couple years and will be facing a lefty who is struggling at the moment. Santiago has given up significantly more power to right handed bats and it’s only a matter of time until Martinez breaks out of his slump.
- SS – Jhonny Peralta
Peralta is way too cheap considering the park bump in Arizona and a RvsL match up. The Cardinals are projected to score 4 runs on the road and facing an inconsistent pitcher Peralta is more than justified at 2.4K. Yes, he only has 1 homer in August but he’s still batting .409 over his last 7 days and has power as evidenced by his 16 home runs on the year.
- 3B – Justin Turner
A lot of people look for Turner exclusively against right handed pitching. Tonight however, he gets a pretty bad lefty and is only 3K. The Dodgers are projected to score 4.5 runs in the hitter friendly park in Cincinnati.
- OF – J.D. Martinez
Martinez is having a very good August and an exceptional year overall. He gets a solid match up against Hector Santiago and his Tigers are projected to score 4.8 runs at home. With some of the pressure lifted thanks to the return of Miguel Cabrera, Martinez should be in for a very good close to the season. He actually hasn’t had as much success against left handed pitching but his upside is there with 33 HR on the season.
- 1B – Carlos Santana
Almost all of Santana’s fantasy production has come from the left side and tonight he faces a righty in Jimmy Nelson. Nelson has been pretty good this year but has massive splits against lefties and is coming off 3 games in a row with a home run surrendered. The Indians are projected to score 4 runs at home.
- 1B – Albert Pujols
Pujols continues to hit bombs and the Angels have a 4.2 run projection on the road. Opposing pitcher, Justin Verlander, has actually been pretty good recently but he’s still not the overpowering guy he used to be. Pujols has been crushing righties this year and Verlander has reverse splits. He’s also been way worse at home in Detroit,
- OF – Mike Trout
Trout is batting second tonight and has the same match up as Pujols. Verlander is also pretty bad against base runners which gives Trout additional upside.

- 3B – Todd Frazier
Frazier is only 2.8K because he has been pretty awful since the Allstar break. His power seems to have disappeared and his OPS is down over 100 points. The good thing is that even with a second half slump he still has the power to hit 29 home runs, knock in 75 runs and slug .524. Facing a lefty at home in Cincy makes Frazier tantalizing at his low salary. He has put together a decent string of games recently and though we are waiting for that home run swing to return it’s looking up for the 2015 derby champ.View all posts by Donnie Chell
