MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 1st on FanDuel
- 3B – Miguel Sano
Sano gets a RvsL match up with a 4.5 run projection. Mike Montgomery’s control abandons him at times and Sano has the power to capitalize on mistakes. He’s very cheap for his upsides at a position that is pretty thin today due to match ups. Keep an eye on the weather in this one.
- 1B – Anthony Rizzo
Rizzo is just way too cheap on FanDuel (1,800 higher on DK). He’s LvsR with a 4.5 run projection in a hitters park against a pitcher who is in decline. Rizzo and the Cubs have been pretty terrible lately which may account for his price but it makes him a prime play today.
- SS – Jhonny Peralta
Peralta seems to have come out of his minor slump by facing the Rockies (go figure). Tonight he gets a RvsL match up against a pitcher who gave up 6 runs in 3.2 innings against the Cubs. Saint Louis is projected to score 4.1 runs at home which seems a little low.
- OF – Gregory Polanco
Polanco leads off for a Pirates team projected to score 4 runs on the road. He gets a park bump in Cincinnati and will be LvsR against a young pitcher who has given up plenty of hits (1.48 WHIP) in his short career. Polanco is quite cheap considering his upside and line up position.
- 1B – Prince Fielder
Fielder and the Rangers have a 5 run projection at home in Arlington tonight. The line is a bit surprising facing Chris Heston but he has been worse on the road and Fielder will have a plus match up being LvsR.
- 1B – Jose Abreu
Abreu has been red hot recently and gets a match up against a relatively unknown commodity in Bryan Mitchell. Mitchell is a reliever making a spot start with Michael Pineda on the DL. It looks like a bullpen game for the Yanks and while they have one of the better ones in baseball Abreu has been hitting everything. The White Sox are projected to score 4.4 runs.
- 2B – Brian Dozier
The Twins are projected to score 4.5 runs at home and Dozier has been pretty dangerous against lefties. Montgomery had a bad month of July and has been lacking control lately. If the weather holds this could be a big game for the Minnesota righties.
- 1B – Chris Davis
Davis gets another solid match up in Camden Yards against a righty with home run problems. The Orioles are projected to score 4.4 runs against Anibal Sanchez who may not blow up often but is generally pretty hittable.
Under the Radar Player
- OF – Shane Peterson
Peterson has a nice jump to the second spot in the Brewers order. At home in hitter friendly Miller Park, the Brew Crew is projected to score 4 runs against Kyle Hendricks. Hendricks seems to perform well only against mediocre offenses and the Brewers definitely can hit the ball in Milwaukee.View all posts by Donnie Chell
