MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 19th on DraftKings
- OF – Chris Denorfia
Assuming Denorfia plays he will have the highest run projection outside of Coors Field. RvsL against Daniel Norris pits the veteran against a rookie who loses his command at times. With a 5.4 run projection at home there’s a great chance that Denorfia gets plenty of opportunities to score.
- OF – Jayson Werth
Coming off a solid game in Colorado there’s a lot to like in Werth’s line up spot and RvsL match up. Coors makes even the struggling Werth a pretty viable option with a 5.4 run projection for the Nats. Werth is actually cheaper on DK tonight which makes him a better cheap option here.
- OF – Jeff Francoeur
Francoeur is very cheap in the clean up spot at home. With a RvsL against Mark Buehrle there’s quite a bit of upside for the veteran. Francoeur is having a good month of August and has shown quite a bit of power this year. Buehrle has given up a lot of home runs despite pitching pretty well this year.
- 2B/3B – Danny Espinosa
With a 5+ run projection at Coors Field, a lot of the bats are significantly inflated. Espinosa is the cheapest option on the Nats despite batting second in the order. Espinosa has been much better against lefties during his career and De La Rosa has been awful at home this year.
- C – Russell Martin
Martin has struggled mightily all August but remains highly powerful. Against a rookie left hander there’s a lot to like considering the home runs Adam Morgan has given up this year and Martin’s propensity to mash lefties. With a 5.4 run projection tonight is a good tonight is good spot for him to break out of his slump.
- 1B – Edwin Encarnacion
Encarnacion has a great match up tonight against Adam Morgan. It is a juicy match up for all the righties on the Blue Jays with a big run projection even on the road. Morgan has been much worse against righties this year.
- OF – Jorge Soler
Soler gets a solid match up RvsL against Daniel Norris. Our algorithm does not like Norris and Soler’s Cubs have a 5.4 run projection at home. The wind is blowing straight out in Wrigley tonight which gives the hitters a boost.
- 3B – Kris Bryant
Bryant has picked it up after a slow start to August. The rookie third baseman has a ton of upside with his ability to hit for power and average at the same time. The Cubs have a big run projection at home tonight.
Under the Radar Player
- SS – Jhonny Peralta
With Tulowitzki having a great match up, Peralta has a good chance of going overlooked. He’s much more affordable than Tulowitzki and has actually hit more home runs than Tulo this year. Peralta has hit righties better this year and facing Matt Cain there’s not much to be scared by here. The Cardinals have a 4.1 run projection at home.View all posts by Donnie Chell
