MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 18th on FanDuel
What do you get when you put two bad teams in a hitter friendly park?
Lots of viable options.
- SS – Jean Segura
Segura provides a ton of upside at the short stop position with his lead off spot and min price. The match up RvsL at home in hitter friendly Miller Park against a bad lefty. Milwaukee has a 4.3 run projection and Segura has a pretty solid mix of speed and a little pop.
- 1B – Justin Bour
Bour is a big boy playing in a small park tonight. He’s got a LvsR against a rookie who’s 1 for 4 in quality starts in his career. This is the Marlins we are talking about so the run projection is still sub-4, however all you need to target here is Bour and if you’re paying up for Kershaw that 2.3K price tag is as good as it gets.
- OF – Yasiel Puig
Puig is way too cheap tonight facing a pretty mediocre lefty. Dubront is coming off a decent start but has been horrible against righties this year. Puig has been hitting better over the last week and is generally too good of a bat to ignore his 2.8K price.
- C – Jonathan Lucroy
Lucroy has been bizarrely awful against lefties this year but tonight we need a cheap catcher with upside. Lucroy fits the bill despite having a forgettable season. There isn’t a ton on the slate to like at the position tonight and Lucroy’s match up RvsL with a 4.3 run projection is solid.
- 3B – Kyle Seager
Seager gets a great match up against a soft tossing righty in the launching pad at Arlington. The temperature is high as usual and the Mariners are projected to score 4.7 runs on the road.
- 1B – Prince Fielder
Fielder is always in play against righties at home. Tonight with a 4.3 run projection agaisnt Iwakuma who gives up the long ball is another decent spot to slot in the Prince. Fielder is very reasonably priced despite being included in the “high salary” section.
- 1B – Anthony Rizzo
Rizzo’s numbers against lefties this year are silly but his numbers against righties are plenty good too. He’s been hitting well lately and the Cubbies have one of the highest run projections, 4.8, at home tonight. Anibal Sanchez has been very up and down this year and he has struggled mightily on the road.
- OF – Ryan Braun
Braun is a very chalky play tonight at home just like last night. Facing a young and unimpressive rookie with a 4.3 run projection in MIller Park the odds are in his favor to have a big game.

- 3B – Todd Frazier
Frazier has been hitting better over the last week including a couple dingers finally. He’s got a pretty solid match up against Kansas City at home. Cincy is a good hitting environment and Volquez is capable of getting rocked from time to time. With a game in Coors tonight and Frazier’s struggles since the All-Star break there’s a good chance he goes massively overlooked tonight. He has so much potential due to his power, RvsR be damned, and with Kewshaw available he’s a steal at 2.9KView all posts by Donnie Chell
