MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 18th on DraftKings
- 2B/3B – Cory Spangenberg
Assuming Spangenberg plays and sticks in the upper part of the Padres order he’s got a ton of value tonight. Wisler has huge splits against lefties and Spangenberg will enjoy a LvsR at home with a 4.1 projection. At only 2.4K with multiple position eligibility he should fit into a lot of line ups to make rostering Kershaw easier.
- OF/SS – Enrique Hernandez
Hernandez has been a lefty killer this season. He’s got a great line up spot if he plays tonight and faces a lefty who can be rocked. Hernandez has been on a tear in limited at bats in August.
- OF – Yasiel Puig
Puig is cheap tonight with a solid match up against Felix Dubront. The Dodgers are projected to score 3.9 runs on the road and Puig has been hitting pretty well recently. Dubront has been bad against righties this year.
- 1B – Yonder Alonso
Alonso gets a solid LvsR match up against Wisler. The Padres are projected to score 4.1 runs and most people will be looking outside of San Diego for a first baseman. At only 3K he will make paying up for pitching easier.
- SS – Jose Reyes
Coors Field makes Reyes an attractive play to our algorithm tonight. The Rockies have a 4.3 run projection despite facing a decent pitcher. Reyes’ speed gives him some upside though both Ramos and Zimmerman are decent against stealing.
- 3B – Adrian Beltre
Beltre is seeing the ball well right now. He’s still hitting with decent power and has been scoring a ton thanks to all the bats around him. RvsR doesn’t matter much to a hitter like Beltre and with a 4.3 run projection at home in Arlington he makes a decent contrarian option at third tonight. Iwakuma has been pitching well recently but has still given up a lot of home runs this season.
- 1B- Prince Fielder
Lefty on righty, 4.3 run projection in Texas. Prince is chalk at first tonight even against a decent pitcher.
- OF – Charlie Blackmon
Blackmon’s power and speed combo gives him a lot of opportunities to put up points. Thanks to playing at Coors, the Rockies have a 4.3 run projection despite facing a pretty good righty. This also gives Blackmon a LvsR match up.
Under the Radar Player
- 1B – Justin Bour
Bour is a big boy playing in a small park tonight. He’s got a LvsR against a rookie who’s 1 for 4 in quality starts in his career. This is the Marlins we are talking about so the run projection is still sub-4, however all you need to target here is Bour and if you’re paying up for Kershaw his price will help. Most of Bour’s home runs this year have gone to spots in the smallest part of Miller Park.View all posts by Donnie Chell
