MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 17th on DraftKings
- OF – Abraham Almonte
Almonte is still min priced and hovering around the middle of the Indians’ line up. He has a favorable match up in Fenway Park against a bad pitcher with a 4.8 run projection. Yes, he’s gone hitless in his last two games but he is min priced with plenty of upside.
- 3B – Derek Dietrich
Dietrich enjoys a park bump in Milwaukee tonight. He will also be LvsR against an aging Matt Garza and his highly affordable at a position where most people like to spend salary. Dietrich has been much better facing righties and can hit for power.
- 2B/SS – Jose Ramirez
Ramirez and the Indians are projected to score 4.8 runs on the road in Boston tonight. He’s an affordable leadoff option who has played well in August and has a plus match up against a bad pitcher. He also provides flexibility from a position standpoint.
- 1B – Justin Bour
Bour is cheap and slotted in at clean up in Milwaukee tonight. The big lefty gets a plus match up against the aging Matt Garza with splits in Bour’s favor. He’s a fairly contrarian play who has plenty of upside thanks to his power and the park bump.
- 1B – Shin-soo Choo
Choo and the Rangers are projected to score 4.6 runs against the Mariners at home tonight. Opposing pitcher, Taijuan Walker, has great stuff but has blow op potential. Choo is batting second and will be LvsR.
- 1B/3B – Carlos Santana
Santana is pretty boom or bust usually and tonight has the makings of a boom night. He’s got a great match up against a poor pitcher in a hitter friendly park. He also shows much more power from the left side of the plate.
- 1B- Prince Fielder
Fielder gets a LvsR match up with a 4.6 run projection at home in the oven of Arlington. Taijaun Walker has shown flashes of brilliance this year but has also been lit up and the big lefty is hitting right handed pitching at an absurdly high rate.
- OF – Khris Davis
Most people in this game will be heavily on Braun. With a 4.5 run projection there’s plenty of production potential to go around and Davis has the power upside in Miller Park to make up for his low average. He’s already hit 5 home runs in August, nearly half of his season total.
Under the Radar Player
- 2B – Neil Walker
Second base is one of the positions you either pay up for a guy like Altuve or Dozier or punt at the end of creating a line up. Neil Walker at $4K seems like a pretty steep price to pay for a guy hitting 6th. I expect him to go massively overlooked without any standout play at second tonight in my opinion I like Walker as an option to differentiate. He’s facing a pitcher who has been awful on the road this year and worse against lefties. All of Walker’s 12 home runs this year have come from the left side.View all posts by Donnie Chell
