MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 12th on FanDuel
- 1B – Joe Mauer
Mauer and the Twins are projected to score 4.7 runs at home against Texas. Mauer is LvsR against Nick Martinez who is probably the worst pitcher on the slate tonight. Martinez has showed reverse splits today but Mauer has been hitting well recently and the almost min price is so attractive with Kershaw to pay up for.
- 1B – James Loney
Loney is having a solid August and gets a LvsR match up against a pitcher with plenty of blow up potential. Tampa is projected to score 4.2 runs at home and Loney continues to have a great line up spot despite displaying low power. His minimal price makes up for a lower ceiling than most first basemen.
- SS – Alcides Escobar
Escobar and the Royals have a 4.3 run projection against a pitcher coming off a terrible start. Escobar will be RvsL and is only 2.3K.
- 3B – Miguel Sano
Sano is having a good August and that should continue tonight. The twins have a 4.7 run projection and Sano gets a phenomenal match up against against a pitcher who has been crushed by right handed batters despite being a righty. Sano’s price tag makes him one of the most attractive third basemen on the slate.
- OF – Lorenzo Cain
Cain gets a great match up with a 4.3 run projection and RvsL. He seems to be totally locked in recently and has both power and speed. $3.8K is still pretty reasonable for the potential upside Cain provides.
- OF – Mike Trout
Trout gets a RvsL match up against the often targeted John Danks. The Angels have a 4.2 run projection on the road in home run happy Chicago. Danks has actually been very effective against some great hitters this year but it’s hard not to like Trout in this match up just be looking at the numbers. It may be hard to pay up for him and Kershaw which will probably reduce his ownership percentage significantly.
- 1B – Albert Pujols
Pujols’ numbers against lefties this year haven’t been great. However, he’s got 30 home runs and is playing in Chicago tonight against John Danks. It is hard not to like the match up though with his higher price tag and some recency bias I can see him being very minimally owned tonight.
Under the Radar Player
- C – John Jaso
Jaso has one of the best match ups for a catcher tonight. Leading off against a young righty who has been blown up a lot this year. The Rays have a 4.2 run projection despite their own struggles and less friendly home park. Jaso may not be that under the radar but with the likes of Schwarber, d’Arnaud, Vogt and Martin in great match ups his ownership will probably be less than it should be tonight. He’s also the cheapest of all the mentioned catchers.View all posts by Donnie Chell
