MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 12th on DraftKings
- OF – Coco Crisp
Crisp is not in the line up tonight. Do not use him
- OF – Grady Sizemore
Sizemore gets a great match up and has a solid line up position. On a night where pitching is expensive, cheap bats matter and Sizemore has been flashing some power in August. The Rays are projected to score 4.2 runs and Wisler has been rocked a number of times this year. Sizemore also will be LvsR.
- 2B/SS – Jose Ramirez
Ramirez is still priced quite low and leading off for the Indians. They are projected to score 3.9 runs against CC Sabathia and while we haven’t seen much from Ramirez on the right side of the plate he’s still an attractive multi-positional option.
- C – John Jaso
Jaso has one of the best match ups for a catcher tonight. Leading off against a young righty who has been blown up a lot this year. The Rays have a 4.2 run projection despite their own struggles and less friendly home park. With the likes of Schwarber, d’Arnaud, Vogt and Martin in great match ups Jaso’s ownership will probably be less than it should be tonight. He’s also the cheapest of all the mentioned catchers.
- 1B – Joe Mauer
Mauer and the Twins are projected to score 4.7 runs at home against Texas. Mauer is LvsR against Nick Martinez who is probably the worst pitcher on the slate tonight. Martinez has showed reverse splits today but Mauer has been hitting well recently.
- 1B/3B – Carlos Santana
Santana is on a 3 game hitting streak which is pretty good for the boom or bust player he is. I’m a little hesitant on him because he hasn’t shown power from the right side this season but batting clean up, multi-position eligibility and relatively low price are all pluses. Our algorithm likes him with a 3.9 run projection for Cleveland.
- SS – Alcides Escobar
Escobar and the Royals have a 4.3 run projection against a pitcher coming off a terrible start. Escobar will be RvsL usually is involved heavily when the Royals score thanks to his lead off spot and speed.
- 1B – Albert Pujols
Pujols’ numbers against lefties this year haven’t been great. However, he’s got 30 home runs and is playing in Chicago tonight against John Danks. It is hard not to like the match up though with his higher price tag and some recency bias I can see him being very minimally owned tonight.
Under the Radar Player
- 3B – Juan Uribe
Uribe has a match up against his former team at home tonight. He’s moved to the clean up spot in the order with Duda sitting against a lefty and is only $2.8K. The Mets have been red hot and De La Rosa, though coming off a couple decent starts has struggled a lot this year. The Mets are projected at almost 4 runs and batting between Cespedes and Cuddyer should ensure Uribe gets plenty of opportunities to put up points.View all posts by Donnie Chell
