MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 10th on FanDuel
- OF – Billy Hamilton
We all know that most of Hamilton’s value comes from his ability to steal bases. Still, assuming he stays at the top of the order he is quite cheap for a lead off hitter. Ian Kennedy has been pretty good against base runners but the Padres catcher, Derek Norris is not. Hamilton even victimizes pitchers who are solid against base runners because of his insane speed.
- 3B – Jake Lamb
Lamb is very affordable in what looks like the juiciest game of the night offensively. He’s got a LvsR match up against sub par right handed pitching and is batting second with a 4.7 run projection to boot. On a day where you are probably rostering Chris Sale across the board Lamb’s upside and price as very attractive.
- SS – Alcides Esbocar
Matt Boyd, historically a terrible pitcher, came out and shut down the Royals in his last appearance. It seems highly unlikely he can do it twice against a team that scares DFS players off the likes of Sale and Archer when they face them. Vegas agrees with a 4.4 run projection for KC at home. Detroit’s Alex Avila is bad at throwing out base runners which makes Alcides significantly more likely to provide value for min price on FanDuel.
- OF – Matt Kemp
A lot of people are making a big deal out of Kemp’s sub par numbers against left handed pitching this year. I’d like to remind everyone that he only has 81 at bats against lefties this year versus 346 against righties. This is a pretty tiny sample size and his power numbers have remained better against lefties even with the drop in average. Facing a generally bad, pitch-to-contact lefty is about as good as you can get for Kemp. The Padres have a 4.1 run projection.
- 1B – Paul Goldschmidt
$3.7K for Goldschmidt. Don’t try to understand the pricing algorithm for FanDuel, just play him since you can. He has owned Harang in his career.
- OF – David Peralta
All the shares of Arizona tonight against Harang at home please. Peralta is batting clean up with three other guys on this list around him. Obviously the AZ stack will be highly owned tonight but Peralta is super hot recently and gets the LvsR match up with a 4.7 run projection and a major splits advantage.
- OF – A.J. Pollock
Pollock has the same match up as Goldschmidt and has hit righties just as well as lefties for his whole career. I can understand hesitance at paying more for him than Goldy but there should be enough cheap guys with decent match ups to stack Arizona with Sale and still get by.
- 1B – Joey Votto
Votto may go a bit overlooked tonight with Goldschmidt at the same price but he is actually having an outstanding year. With more walks than Ks, 19 home runs and a .417 career average against the right handed Ian Kennedy, who has given up a ridiculous number of home runs this year, it’s hard to ignore him.

- 2B – Ben Zobrist
Zobrist has been playing very well since joining the Royals. On a short slate second base is incredibly shallow and there may be some benefit in paying up a little bit for a guy with a plus match up against Matt Boyd. Zobrist has a better average from the right side of the plate and the Royals are projected to score 4.4 runs.View all posts by Donnie Chell
