MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 10th on DraftKings
- OF – Scott Van Slyke
Van Slyke is one of those plug and play guys that helps you pay up for expensive pitching when he is facing lefties. The lefty in question is Gio Gonzalez tonight who has been pretty good but barely ever lights out. Keep in mind that Van Slyke may be a pinch hit risk as Gio rarely goes deep into games.
- 1B – Adam LaRoche
LaRoche is only $2.6K with a LvsR match up. Yes, Shoemaker has been good to very good in most of his starts this year but he is worse on the road and facing a team that has been relatively hot recently. Also, the margin for error is minimal with the Angels facing Chris Sale and playing poorly at the moment. Increased pressure often results in bad outings. LaRoche is purely a contrarian tournament play.
- OF – Yasiel Puig
Puig isn’t having the best of years but is pretty cheap and facing a lefty known for being wild at times. Puig’s RvsL match up is attractive and it’s hard to see him hitting so poorly forever.
- 2B/3B – Daniel Murphy
Murphy has been red hot recently with the rest of the Mets. He’s got a great spot in the order and is facing a young pitcher. Jon Gray has a lot of hype around him because he’s basically the first decent pitcher the Rockies have rolled out all year. As a lifetime Rockies fan, I don’t buy the hype and am not scared off with Murphy’s LvsR match up, the 4.2 run projection for New York and the fact that Gray only lasted 4 innings before giving way to one of the worst bullpens in baseball.
- OF – David Peralta
All the shares of Arizona tonight against Harang at home please. Peralta is batting clean up with three other guys on this list around him. Obviously the AZ stack will be highly owned tonight but Peralta is super hot recently and gets the LvsR match up with a 4.7 run projection and a major splits advantage.
- 3B – Jake Lamb
Lamb is reasonably affordable in what looks like the juiciest game of the night offensively. He’s got a LvsR match up against sub par right handed pitching and is batting second with a 4.7 run projection to boot.
- C – Wellington Castillo
Analysts and algorithms love Castillo who has been excellent for much of the last month. He’s got a good match up against Harang today at home with a juicy 4.7 run projection.
- 1B – Lucas Duda
For the same reasons I like Daniel Murphy I like Duda tonight. He does have reverse splits this year and is cooling off some after mashing to begin August but the upside is there and the match up is solid.

- C – Matt Wieters
Wieters may go overlooked with people turning to Castillo and Norris in their good match ups tonight. Wieters is actually a better hitter from the right side of the plate and is facing a poorly performing lefty with low stamina. The Mariners have a bottom 10 bullpen and even though the park isn’t ideal Wieters has plenty of upside and a low-ish priceView all posts by Donnie Chell
