Week 12 Fantasy Football: Buy or Sell
I’m taking a look at some of the more talked about players and whether you should buy the hype or sell (fade) them on Fanduel and DraftKings this Sunday. Tweet me your thoughts on twitter @Maxjsteinberg.
Coby Fleener ($5,400 on Fanduel, $5,200 on DraftKings)
Before researching Fleener, I was looking for justification to fade him even with Dwayne Allen out. But after doing the research, I’m convinced this is a buy. The Colts backup TE is mainly a run blocker so I don’t think he assumes the “Allen” role here, I think they just expand Fleener’s role. With top red zone target Ahmad Bradshaw out as well and the Colts projected to score over 31 points against a terrible Jags D, it’s hard to believe Fleener doesn’t score a TD this weekend.
Trent Richardson ($5,700 on Fanduel, $4,900 on DraftKings)
Call me crazy, but I don’t see Richardson’s role expanding much here. He may have got more touches when Bradshaw went down last weekend, but with a week to prepare I think they end up using Boom Herron in Bradshaw’s role and I don’t think Richardson really gets many more touches. Even in blowouts, the Colts have shown all year that they will throw the ball even when they’re up. I’m not saying don’t play Richardson in cash games, but I think he’s a good fade in GPPs.
Isaiah Crowell ($5,500 on Fadnuel, $3,800 on DraftKings)
Crowell “became” the starter in a sense last week and produced well, and one day later Ben Tate was cut. I don’t think this is a coincidence, the Browns like what they have in Crowell, and as the bigger back I don’t think we have to fear Terrence West taking the goal-line carries. Atlanta is possibly the worst team in the NFL against RBs.
Marshawn Lynch ($8,800 on Fanduel, $6,700 on DraftKings)
Our writer Nick Juskewycz wrote a great article last week about how important Centers are for offensive performance and it’s no exception here. Center Max Unger has been injured all year but has been playing the last two games, and suddenly Marshawn Lynch goes from disappointing to averaging 5 yards a carry. What you may not know is Unger got injured at the end of that Chiefs game, and is probably out for the year. Without his best run blocker, I think Lynch goes back to disappointing, especially against a stout Cardinals run D.
Brandon Marshall ($8,300 on Fanduel, $7,100 on DraftKings)
His price has risen significantly, but he’s worth it against a terrible Buccaneers pass D. They’re 2nd worst in the NFL in fantasy points allowed to WRs and 2nd worst in the NFL against #1 WRs according to Football Outsiders. The Bears are projected to score 26 points, well above their season average of around 21. I prefer Marshall over Jeffery, but it’s very close.
Packers D/ST ($5,500 on Fanduel, $3,400 on DraftKings)
The Packers D/ST had back-to-back amazing weeks but I’m off the bandwagon this week. I hate taking defenses on the road and although the Packers are heavy favorites, public money is swaying this line way towards the Packers. I think this game ends up being closer than people think.
