Target Watch NFL Week 11
Targets are a big part of predicting future performance for WRs and TEs, and if you read my Target Watch articles every week you would see how accurate they can be. My article last week successfully predicted great games from both Jarvis Landry and Alshon Jeffery, so read up!
Alshon Jeffery (17 Targets) – This is why looking at targets is so important fromweek-to-week. Despite a poor game last week, Jeffery had 12 targets, and I wrote especially given his history vs the Vikings, he should be on your radar for DraftKings. Well, I was right on the money, and he smoked the Vikings for 11/135/1, good for 33.5 points on DraftKings. Clearly, he’s still a big part of this offense.
Keenan Allen (13 Targets) – Another week, another game where Allen has double digit targets. He still hasn’t broken out for a big game (the Chargers did only score 1 TD yesterday and it went to Malcolm Floyd) but his targets have been ridiculously consistent. The Rams have not been great against #2 receivers this season, and with Malcolm Floyd still drawing the #1 corners week after week, I think Allen is a borderline must play on DraftKings at $4,900.
Odell Beckham Jr. (13 Targets) – He didn’t find the endzone, but had another ODB (I’m trying to get this nickname to stick) like game with 6 catches for 93 yards. Against the Cowboys at home this week, he should continue to perform.
Kelvin Benjamin (13 Targets) – Again, he saved his production for the 4th quarter but significantly outperformed his salary once again. Benjamin is a target machine, especially in the redzone, and as long as his salary stays depressed he’s in play week after week.
Randall Cobb (13 Targets) – It’s starting to become hard to argue that Cobb is the #2 receiver on this team. Most players avoided him this week going up against Brandon Boykin, but he lit him up. Cobb and the Packers are matchup proof.
Roddy White (12 Targets) – White seems to be fully healthy and back this year. He’s been consistently highly targeted and I love how many looks he gets in the redzone.
Rueben Randle (15 Targets) – The player on everyone’s radar this week was Odell Beckham Jr., but Randle actually out targeted him and out performed him (7 catches for 112 yards) in this game. I’m almost certain no one will notice that Randle actually had a quality game since he didn’t have a huge fantasy day, so he should be on your GPP radar against the Cowboys. He’s only $5,100 on DraftKings and $6,700 on FanDuel.
Taylor Gabriel and Andrew Hawkins (13 Targets each) – The Browns were down all game which forced Brian Hoyer to pass 50 times, which explains why these two we’re targeted so heavily. Josh Gordon is coming back this week which should hurt the production of both of these players, but if the Browns get down against the Falcons next week I wouldn’t be surprised if one of these two (my guess would be Hawkins) has a good game.
Chris Hogan (9 Targets) – Hogan seemingly has come out of nowhere and had a solid game for the 2nd straight week, but he has actually played over 75% of snaps the past couple of weeks. Against a very soft Jets secondary it wouldn’t surprise me if we see him have another good game. He’s only $5,400 on FanDuel.
Jeremy Maclin (11 Targets) – It looks like it just took a game for Maclin and Sanchez to gain some chemistry. In a cake matchup against the Titans, he should be on your cash and GPP radar.
Jacob Tamme (10 Targets) – Julius Thomas went down early in this game, and Tamme reaped the benefits getting 10 targets. The Broncos offense struggled as a whole in this game, but they’ll bounce back against the Dolphins. Tamme should continue to see a lot of targets as long as Julius Thomas is out and is a borderline must play.
Target Goat of the Week
Jimmy Graham (3 Targets) – I really need to re-watch this game because I don’t understand what happened. Drew Brees was accurate but it seems like the Saints kept to a short passing game and ignored Graham. My gut says the coaching staff emphasizes going to Graham against the Ravens and he gets back on track next week.
Honorable Mention: Calvin Johnson (12 Targets), Julio Jones (11 Targets), Brandon Marshall (10 Targets), Jordy Nelson (10 Targets, Demaryius Thomas (10 Targets).
Target Goats: Dwayne Bowe (4 Targets), Larry Fitzgerald (4 Targets), Vincent Jackson (4 Targets), Jimmy Graham (3 Targets), Cordarelle Patterson (3 Targets), Davante Adams (2 Targets), Pierre Garcon (2 Targets).View all posts by Max J Steinberg
