Players to Avoid on FanDuel for Week 14
Our NFL tools are a great place to find offenses and players to target for the week. Our NFL Point Projection tool uses sports betting lines as a baseline to breakdown which teams and aspects of the offense are expected to do well this week. And our FD vs DK salary tool is a great way to find the best values on FanDuel and DraftKings. The best part? These are all free! All you have to do is register, which takes less than a minute, by clicking the button on the top of this page.
Here are several players I’ll be avoiding in week 14 on FanDuel.
Ben Roethlisberger ($8,400) – It may be tempting to use Roethlisberger coming off a 400 yard, 2 TD performance against the Saints, but from a value perspective he’s awful this week. The Steelers are projected to score only 21.75 points on the road vs the Bengals, a 5 point diffence from their normal PPG this season. The Bengals are a team that’s relatively fine against the pass, but poor against the run, and they’re a run heavy team. The Steelers point projection makes sense, this will be a short game with a lot of runs eating up the clock. And Roethlisberger simply won’t get enough opportunities to hit value.
The entire Baltimore offense – Baltimore is projected to score only 20.5 points on the road against Miami, a massive 6.8 point difference from their PPG this season. The matchup is just horrible for Baltimore from a fantasy perspective, shutdown corner Brent Grimes should be on Torrey Smith all game, Steve Smith Jr. has done nothing in the latter half of the season even in good matchups, and Justin Forsett’s price is way too high for a mediocre matchup like this. I think it’s safe to avoid anyone in this offense.
Jeremy Maclin ($8,200) – Jeremy Maclin stated this week that the Eagles keep their receivers to a specific side, and Maclins side happens to also be Richard Sherman’s side. Taking any WR who will be going exclusively against Sherman this season is a bad idea.
Steven Jackson ($6,600) – Jackson has been killing it in his last 5 games, averaging over 16 carries and over 11 fantasy points. But Atlanta has shown that they will completely abandon the run when they get down, and they almost certainly will be down early in this game. Teams have been able to run on Green Bay, but I just don’t expect the Falcons to do it.
Overusing any Saints WR or TE – It’s tempting to use Kenny Stills or Marques Colston with the Saints going against Carolina’s horrible pass D, but figuring out who Drew Brees is going to throw to is essentially impossible. The reason for this is no WR or TE on the Saints plays more than 2/3 of passing downs. Last week, Marques Colston played 21/30 and Stills played only 18/30. While I’m high on Drew Brees at home, I just can’t target a specific receiver on this team. I recommend using Brees on his own in GPPs.
