DraftKings Week 3: Sunday Million Plays
I’ve been observing DraftKings’ salary algorithm to start the season, and it seems like it’s more reactionary than ever. Players who performed well last week have their salaries ramped up and top players who had an off-week find themselves in the mid to low tiers. I feel there are several players that are both great value and are likely to be overlooked by many players this week.
Note: These are tournament specific plays, I don’t necessarily recommend any of these guys for heads ups.
Malcolm Floyd $3,000 – Floyd had no targets and no catches last week, but this is a guy who was on the field for almost the whole game. In a much better matchup with Buffalo and with Keenan Allen gimpy, he’s wildly undervalued and could outperform his salary significantly. Remember that he was essentially the #1 receiver for the Chargers last year.
Zak Stacy $5,600 – He’s had a disappointing start to the season but I love his matchup this week. Dallas’ defense has surprised in a good way, but when teams have run on them they’ve gotten absolutely owned. St. Louis is actually projected to score 22 points at home and so a TD from Stacy almost seems likely. He doesn’t catch out of the backfield but the 100 yard bonus could make up for that.
Dez Bryant $7,700 – While everyone will be paying up for Demarco Murray this week they will likely forget about Bryant, who had a 29 point game playing with an injured shoulder for 3 quarters. He’s basically the only guy Romo looks at in the passing game.
Demaryius Thomas $6,600 – His price is depressed and while his matchup is terrible this guy is one of the most talented WRs in the league. With Welker back he should get a lot of single coverage and as we saw last week Richard Sherman is not invincible. His usage should be ridiculously low for a player who has the upside that Thomas has.
Golden Tate $5,000 – Tate has been an afterthought to Calvin Johnson this year, but having watched both Lions games in full it’s clear to me Tate is one of the top options in their offense. His price is depressed from having not scored a TD this year but in a high scoring game vs the Packers I think he has a good chance of finding the endzone. Even if he doesn’t, 7 catches for a 100 yards isn’t out of the question this week.
Michael Floyd $4,800 – He went missing last week with Drew Stanton favoring Larry Fitzgerald but with a week of practice he likely will have a better week. The 49ers defense isn’t what it used to be and he’s way to cheap for his talent.
Riley Cooper $4,400 – He’s coming off 2 terrible weeks but if you’ve watched the Eagles you’ve seen that Cooper has barely missed a couple scores. The Redskins gambling cornerbacks will almost certainly get burned during this game and I think Cooper could surprise with a couple of deep catches.
Cecil Shorts $4,800 – Shorts is an underrated WR and should immediately become Henne’s favorite target. The Colts D has been awful and Jacksonville has the benefit of playing at home. He’s listed as doubtful on DraftKings but he’s actually probable.
