NBA DFS: Joe Johnson A Solid Sleeper Tonight

News broke this morning that Deron Williams is questionable for tonight’s game against Charlotte tonight. The line has moved 2.5 points towards Charlotte, so it seems pretty likely Williams is going to be out. Right away, DFS pundits clamored about Shaun Livingston being a great play tonight. That is certainly true, Livingston should be a good play tonight if Williams does not play. But the real beneficiary of Williams injury is Joe Johnson.

Here are the last 6 games in which Williams and Lopez both did not play.

It’s quite easy to see the Johnson over everyone else had his fantasy stats and USG% go through the roof, as he averaged 36.1 FPPG and 28.23% USG in relatively average matchups. There’s no reason to think that Johnson would not continue his uptick in production with Williams out, as even with Williams in his play has been very solid.

While I certainly don’t think Livingston will be a bad pick tonight, I think he’s worth fading in GPPs. He is already getting over 30 minutes a game and will probably only get a few minutes more this game. He also is on the road (bad for pgs) in an average matchup in a slow paced game. Roll with Johnson tonight.
