NBA Daily Fantasy 1/30: Under the Radar Plays at Each Position

Instead of ranking by position today, we are going to go back to under-the-radar plays at each position for NBA daily fantasy . We will still have our regular top plays though on the home page.

The players on this list will be guys you may not be considering for two reasons. First, the player hasn’t had a great game in a while. Second, someone you may not expect will have a more significant role in usage percentage given the matchup and injury news.

However, do not play all of these guys in one lineup. To be clear, there are only players you should be using in GPPs. Furthermore, you should also only use one or two of these at the most. Since these are players who are “under the radar,” they will likely have higher variance. Use our top plays to go with one or two options here so that you have a great unique lineup.

(salaries via FanDuel)

PG – Mario Chalmers $5,400 – When Dwayne Wade isn’t in the lineup, Chalmers often gets a significant bump in usage percentage. This is because more of the offense runs through him, and his field-goal attempts increase. Chalmers has a perfectly reasonable price going against the team that gives up the third-most FPTS to PGs.

SG – Kevin Martin $6,500 – You may have missed this, but Kevin Martin returned Wednesday and played 29 minutes. Since it was a wrist issue, he was able to condition and not have a minutes restriction. Sometimes it takes shooters a while to find their groove when returning to game action, but sometimes it doesn’t. Basically, against the 76ers, Martin has the perfect opportunity to go off, but it is risky.

SF – Tayshaun Prince $3,900 – Believe it or not, Prince is actually logging decent minutes the last couple games off the bench and has had a decent role in the offense to boot. The Celtics have been playing small with some Prince at the PF position,  so his minutes should stay up. On such a bad Celtics team, Prince’s fantasy production should continue.

PF – Donatas Motiejunas $5,400 –

It wouldn’t be surprising to see this Rockets vs Celtics game to be small ball throughout. The Rockets currently only have one Center suiting up, Joey Dorsey, who only played 13 minutes last game despite starting. Expect Motiejunas to get 34+ minutes in a great matchup.

C – Tyson Chandler $6,700 –

Chandler is a rebounding machine against a Heat team that has been bad against Centers. Without Dwayne Wade, the Heat offense should be less efficient which we know leads to more opposing defensive fantasy points. There will be a lot of rebounding and block opportunities for Chandler.
