MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 21st on FanDuel
Low Salary
Position | FP/$1,000 | Player Name | $alary | Projected Points | Game |
OF | 1.21 | Alex Rios | $2,200 | 2.66 | [email protected] |
OF | 1.14 | Marcell Ozuna | $2,400 | 2.73 | [email protected] |
1B | 1.13 | Justin Bour | $2,400 | 2.71 | [email protected] |
3B | 1.11 | Martin Prado | $2,400 | 2.67 | [email protected] |
Alex Rios $2,200 – Rios is still severely underpriced, and tonight he draws a very favorable matchup for several reasons. Kansas City draws the young lefty Henry Owens (6.19 ERA), Fenway Park is extremely favorable for right-handed hitters and the Royals are projected for 4.6 runs.
Marcell Ozuna $2,400 – Ozuna has shown no rust since returning from injury a week ago, and he’s one of several Marlins players who have a great matchup against the massively struggling Philadelphia Phillies. Jerad Eickoff makes his MLB debut tonight for the Phillies on the mound.
Justin Bour $2,400 – Same game, and the power-hitting lefty will get the righty Eickoff. The Marlins are projected for 4.3 runs tonight.
Martin Prado $2,400 – Again, our projections love the underpriced Marlins, and you could consider a small stack of their players, With several expensive pitchers in play tonight, these Marlins hitters are an attractive way to create an ideal lineup.
High Salary
Position | FP/$1,000 | Player Name | $alary | Projected Points | Game |
SS | 1.0133 | Jose Reyes | $3,600 | 3.65 | [email protected] |
1B | 0.9354 | Paul Goldschmidt | $4,400 | 4.12 | [email protected] |
C | 0.8978 | Buster Posey | $3,500 | 3.14 | [email protected] |
OF | 0.8918 | Lorenzo Cain | $4,000 | 3.57 | [email protected] |
Jose Reyes $3,600 – Our projections have liked Reyes a lot since joining the Rockies, and tonight is no exception. Colorado is projected for a massive 5.5 runs against Bartolo Colon, and Reyes is easily the best shortstop play tonight.
Paul Goldschmidt $4,400 – Another solid run projection if you’re staying away from Coors as the Diamondbacks are listed at 4.2 runs. The righty Goldschmidt is at Great American Ballpark (high HR park), and he faces the lefty David Holmberg (5.95 ERA).
Buster Posey $3,500 – Posey’s price has taken a nice dip, and it comes at a great time as the righty Posey faces the lefty Jeff Locke. Despite that San Francisco is beat up a bit, our projections really like his specific matchup and that price decline.
Lorenzo Cain $4,000 – Cain is at Fenway, the best HR park for righties. Just like Rios, Cain faces the lefty Owens, who is coming off a miserable start at home after allowing 7ER and 3 HRs to the Mariners.
Under the Radar Play
Position | FP/$1,000 | Player Name | $alary | Projected Points | Game |
1B | 0.87 | Joe Mauer | $2,500 | 2.18 | [email protected] |
Joe Mauer $2,500 – There are a lot of great plays at 1B tonight, but Joe Mauer is still underpriced with a sneaky good matchup. Despite facing a lefty in Wei-Yin Chen, Camden Yards is a fantastic park for lefties, and Chen allows a lot of HRs.
