MLB Daily Fantasy Algorithmic Picks for August 21st on DraftKings

Low Salary

3B/SS3.67Andres Blanco$2,0007.35[email protected] 07:10PM ET
1B/OF2.97Darin Ruf$2,3006.84[email protected] 07:10PM ET
OF2.91Alex Rios$2,9008.43[email protected] 07:10PM ET
SS2.68J.J. Hardy$2,6006.96[email protected] 07:05PM ET

Andres Blanco $2,000 – Blanco has been crushing it behind the plate. Yet, he’s still minimum salary, and he draws Jerad Eickhoff of the struggling Phillies who is making his MLB debut tonight.

Darin Ruf $2,300 – Another Marlins player who is way too cheap for this ideal matchup versus the Phillies. The Marlins are also at home with a 4.3 run projection.

Alex Rios $2,900 – The Royals travel to Fenway, an outstanding park for righties. They get the young lefty in Henry Owens, are projected for 4.6 runs and Rios is underpriced even in an average matchup.

J.J. Hardy $2,600 – There are a few cheap options at SS tonight, but Hardy gets the righty vs lefty matchup with Tommy Milone, and the Orioles are projected for 4.8 runs.

High Salary

PositionFP/$1,000Player Name$alaryProjected PointsGame
1B/OF3.04Ben Paulsen$3,2009.72[email protected] 08:40PM ET
2B/3B2.67Martin Prado$3,2008.55[email protected] 07:10PM ET
3B2.63Juan Uribe$3,4008.93[email protected] 08:40PM ET
OF2.61Charlie Blackmon$4,50011.76[email protected] 08:40PM ET

Ben Paulsen $3,100 – The first of a few great plays at Coors tonight. The Rockies are projected for 5.5 runs against Bartolo Colon, and Paulsen is simply underpriced.

Martin Prado $3,200 – Prado is another Marlins player going against the rookie Eickhoff. Our projections really like Miami tonight, and Prado should benefit a lot hitting in the second or third spot.

Juan Uribe $3,400 – The best FP/1,000 play on the Mets, and they’re projected for 5.5 runs, the highest of the night (slightly higher than the Rockies). The lefty Uribe gets the young righty Jon Gray.

Charlie Blackmon $4,500 – The leadoff hitter for the Rockies gets Colon in a terrific lefty vs righty matchup. From a FP/1,000 and projected point perspective, Blackmon is the best algorithmic pick of the night on DraftKings.

Under the Radar Play

PositionFP/$1,000Player Name$alaryProjected PointsGame
OF2.64Abraham Almonte$2,0005.28[email protected] 07:05PM ET

Abraham Almonte $2,000 – While the Indians do face Tankaka, Almonte gets the lefty vs righty matchup, Yankee Stadium is great for lefties and Almonte is minimum salary while playing much better than that since getting called up to the majors.

several errors in the post-blanco and ruf are phillies, not marlins.(they face a rhp flores). uribe is a righty not a lefty. does this skew the projections or just misprinted?
