Expert Consensus NBA 1/22

I wanted to go around to different fantasy basketball advice websites and see who was mentioned as picks for tonight’s games. The players below are the guys I saw the most and why experts picked them.

DJ Augustin

He’s starting tonight since Kirk Hinrich is hurt and has been doing very well in the minutes that he has gotten. He may be the best pick of the night because of his per 36 numbers and the extra minutes he’s going to see on the floor. Chicago is also playing Cleveland who is terrible against PGs. It was hard to find someone who didn’t love him tonight.

Phil Pressey

Another injury play, everyone in the Celtics backcourt is injured and he’s literally the only PG who is expected to play. Check that Rondo isn’t playing before putting him in your lineup though. Pressey is not a great fantasy player though so its hard to tell if he’s worth playing in a GPP. That being said the Celtics are so injured he may take a greater offensive role tonight.

Tyson Chandler

This is basically a pure DVP play against the Sixers who give up gobs of points to Centers. Chandler’s price is good as well.

Paul Millsap

Millsap has strung together a lot of solid games after going through a rut. Millsap has showed with Horford out he can be the go to guy on the Hawks, but he needs soft interior defense to get it done. He’s shown that in matchups with Miami and Boston, and showed how much he can be shut down in a matchup with Indiana. With Vucevic out, Orlando has a very soft front court that everyone has been eating up. In the previous matchup against Orlando without Horford, Vucevic played and Millsap played okay, but with Davis at Center he should be able to feast.

Carmelo Anthony

Everyone is loving Carmelo tonight basically because he’s playing well and he has the Sixers as a matchup. I am really not so sure here. In our correlation analysis, Carmelo is shown to have no correlation to DVP and no correlation to FPPG given up by team. The truth is Carmelo is an elite scorer but is mostly a jump shooter who’s going to score regardless of his matchup. Philadelphia seems to bode well as a good matchup for his teammates and not him. In their last matchup, Carmelo had a relatively bad game by his standards, scoring 18 points with 9 rebounds and 7 assists. I think Melo clearly will have a decent game, and Melo’s price seems a bit low, but I would not choose him in a GPP, I see Philly as a game where his teammates overperform and he takes a step back as we saw in their last matchup.

Taj Gibson

Another injury play as Boozer is out tonight. Cleveland is a pretty good matchup in general and Gibson has performed awesomely in the time he has gotten. Real no brainer here.

Rodney Stuckey

Stuckey has been awesome in the last 3 games after returning from injury. His price is around 4k on most sites and last game he scored 40 fantasy points against a decent Clippers matchup where he played in favor of Jennings in the 4th quarter. He comes off the bench which makes him more risky. That being said his FPPG is almost 6x his price on Draftkings so it’s hard not to like him in both GPPs and cash games. But he’s not as good of a play as some of the other guys on this list.

I hope this gave you a good grasp on the picks DFS experts like for tonight.
