DraftKings Position Rankings: Explaining the #1 Picks
If you haven’t already checked it out, I recommend looking at the DraftKings Position Rankings page under the ‘Tools’ tab. It’s a collective ranking system by all of our head writers and is a great starting point for making lineups. There’s a position ranking page for FanDuel as well, also under the ‘Tools’ tab. The following players are our #1 rated plays on DraftKings for each position.
Aaron Rodgers ($8,400) – Eddie Lacy may have had a great game last week, but we don’t buy that this will continue, especially against the solid Miami run D. On the road, in what’s likely a close high-scoring game, and Rodgers almost certainly will get 300+ yards. And with the Packers projected to score 26 points, Rodgers will probably throw several TDs as well. His $8,400 price is reasonable.
Honorable Mention: Matt Ryan, Nick Foles
Andre Ellington ($5,100) – Ellington may finally be at full strength and while the Redskins have a decent run defense, Ellington likely will hurt them in the pass game and when he gets to the second level. A player with the upside of Ellington, who will certainly catch 4+ balls in this game game, is simply too cheap at $5,100.
Honorable Mention: Branden Oliver, Ronnie Hillman
Golden Tate ($6,300) – Some question the talent and ability of Golden Tate on his own without Calvin Johnson, but we don’t. Even early in the season with Calvin Johnson healthy, Tate was getting plenty of targets and doing well (aside from not getting in the endzone), and he proved himself last week when he had to step up with Johnson gimpy. With Reggie Bush likely out as well, there isn’t anyone else to go to besides Tate and if he doesn’t pick up 100+ yards and 7+ receptions we would be shocked.
Honorable Mention: Brandon Marshall, Jordy Nelson
Larry Donnell ($3,500) – Donnell may not be the player who caught 3 TDs against the Redskins, but he also isn’t the player who did nothing (literally) last week. At $3,500 he’s an absolutely steal, especially against a soft Eagles D. TE is a very weak position this week so using a lower salary play with high upside is a smart move.
Honorable Mention: Delanie Walker, Martellus Bennett
Seattle Seahawks ($3,100) – Dallas may be surprising on offense this season, but Demarco Murray isn’t going to be able to carry the load on this one. Dallas will have to throw to catch up in this one and the results could be absolutely disastrous for them. Some are quick to point out that the Seahawks D/ST hasn’t topped 8 points this season, but their two home games so far have been against the Broncos and Packers, two elite offenses. Against Dallas, they will fair much, much better.View all posts by Max J Steinberg
